Chúla Artisan Eatery in La Quinta
Confession #1: I love BRUNCH.
Confession #2: I also love Mexican food, especially healthier alternatives to Mexican food, which is really the best of both worlds.
So, you can just imagine my excitement when Chúla Artisan Eatery opened up in La Quinta! Serving made-from-scratch, farm-to-table Mexican foods and dishes, Chúla is one of the newest establishments in the Greater Palm Springs region bringing amazing health-conscious cuisine to the neighborhood. Open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and occasionally dinner, everything here is seasonally inspired and locally sourced, making your dining experience that much richer and fresher.
During my recent trip to the eatery, my husband and I had a hard time deciding what to order because all their offerings sounded very good. As we looked over their menu, we were happy to see modern approaches to classic favorites like huevos rancheros, chorizo and egg and grilled street corn, as well as gluten free and vegan options too. And after lots of thought and deliberation, we began our brunch date with the Signature Salsa Flight, which consisted of organic farm pico de gallo, mild tomato salsa, roasted tomatillo salsa and house-made chips.
Tip from Cin: If you like spicy salsas, go for the hot tomato salsa instead of the mild option!
For our entrees, we went with their one-of-a-kind Mac and Cheese for the hubby and the Mom’s Red Chile Chilaquiles for me. Unique from other Mac and Cheese dishes, this appetizing plate comes prepared with a red salsa that gives it a cheesy, savory kick and is topped with bacon pieces – perfect for starting our Saturday morning. My dish was just as delicious, and came with sautéed corn chips, red chile sauce, pulled pork, sweet onion, queso fresco, avocado, a poached egg and organic pico de gallo. If visiting the restaurant, these are two items you need to try immediately!
Another awesome feature that Chúla brings to the table is that it offers an extensive ready-to-go section that is full of healthy options and snacks.
And if you need another reason to visit, maybe this will convince you: the restaurant serves in-house, made-from-scratch tortillas! Not all restaurants are up to the task to create this tasty masa food staple, so it's really a lovely treat to find it at such a chic restaurant like Chúla. Happy hour specials and live music are also on the menu every Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., so come in for the party and treat yourself to something muy bueno.
Also, if you’re a coffee and sweets lover (like me), then you have another reason to smile about when heading over to Chúla. The restaurant proudly serves Joshua Tree Coffee, as well as a variety of heritage-inspired drinks and a number of tempting baked goods. A few items from their organic bakery include their award-winning chipotle brownies, delectable empanadas and hand-made pies – made with local strawberries. A sweet surprise about their bakery is that their pastry menu changes daily in order to keep everything fresh and exciting! Who doesn’t love that?

In addition to having a stellar menu, the eatery also has the cutest little Mercado to shop from! Find everything there from hand-made colorful bags and mugs, to adorable plants and home décor items that are perfect for sprucing up your kitchen or other areas of your casita. A couple of my favorite items were the decorative baskets and candles, which come in a variety of colors and sizes.
Pretty, right?
Yeah…I think so too. Here’s some more:
It’s pretty safe to say that we are definitely coming back for more...and like really soon too.
