Laser Hair Removal: Session 2
Truth #1: deciding to do laser hair removal on my arms has been one of the best decisions I’ve made this year.
Truth #2: the staff and nursing professionals at Contour Dermatology in Rancho Mirage have been a dream to work with. They are super accommodating with my schedule, provide great service and are just all super personable and nice!
My second session for laser hair removal was on Saturday, August 31, and let me tell you, my arms are looking amazing after only four short weeks! One week after my first session, I had shaved my arms for an event I had to attend and had not touched them since then. By the time my second appointment came around, my arms still looked good, with little to no hair growth on them. According to my nurse, Jeana, this is a big deal as this means the treatments are working extremely well for me. Jeana also explained that, often times, it takes patients up to six sessions to see results.
So, for me, laser hair removal is definitely worth the price and the minor pain that comes with it.
Yes, laser hair removal is pricey, and depending on where you go for treatments, the cost can be well over a grand. However, it’s always a good idea to inquire about seasonal specials going on as well as payment plan options. You can also choose to do less than the recommended six sessions. Some people see results with as little as two or three treatments, so keep that in mind as well.
After each session, one of the first things I got asked was: did it hurt?
Truth: it did, a little.
The best way to describe the feeling is like having a hot needle pierce your skin repeatedly. Some areas are more uncomfortable than others. I found that my sensitive areas were my wrists and elbows. So, if you have low pain tolerance, it’s recommended to use a numbing cream, like I did. Be sure to speak to your laser hair removal specialist prior to beginning the treatment for this. Again, it’s truly highly recommended to use the numbing cream.
So, all in all, laser hair removal is a little painful and is a little expensive, but it’s truly an investment for long term results. My arms have seriously never looked better or have felt smoother.
Looking forward to my third and final session this October!
